So I took a walk one afternoon and ended up on a road called Trailhead. I didn’t attribute much to the name until this little path caught my eye. It turns out that it’s the entrance to a National Forest and Thumb Butte park. When you get to the top of the trail, you see the vista shown in the top photo. I’ve been going for hikes here every morning since I discovered it. The very best antidote for the “sad and lonelies”.
As far as mountain bike single-tracks go, these are really nice. The trails even have built-in incentives not to fall.
This is Thumb Butte. One of the more recognizable landmarks of Prescott. From the right angle, it looks just like a butte.
This sign at the trailhead has one more plaque on it than all of the rest of the signs I saw inside the parkāthe graphic with a bicycle with a little electric plug sticking out the back.
I’m not sure if this tree is deciduous or dead. Pretty though.
